Financial Planning Analyst

Foundations Investment Advisors is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Planning Analyst to join our team. This role will support the financial planning and case preparation process by reviewing client financial information, preparing analysis, and utilizing a variety of financial planning and investment technology platforms.

The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of the financial services industry, is comfortable working with financial data, and can accurately turn client statements and information into organized, actionable analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze client financial statements, investment accounts, insurance and annuity information, and other financial documents.
  • Organize and prepare client data for financial planning and case analysis.
  • Assist with investment, risk, retirement income, and portfolio analysis.
  • Utilize financial planning and investment analysis platforms such as Morningstar, Kwanti, Income Lab, and Nitrogen, along with Foundations' proprietary planning and analysis tools.
  • Prepare reports, illustrations, comparisons, and supporting materials for financial advisors and internal teams.
  • Identify missing or incomplete information needed to properly prepare and analyze cases.
  • Ensure client information and analysis are entered accurately and consistently across systems.
  • Work closely with advisors and internal teams to help move cases efficiently from initial information gathering through analysis and presentation preparation.
  • Learn and apply Foundations' internal processes, analytical methodologies, and proprietary technology.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience in financial services or a working knowledge of investments, retirement planning, insurance, annuities, or wealth management.
  • Familiarity with common investment and financial terminology, including asset allocation, risk, performance, account types, and retirement income concepts.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with numbers and financial information.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to review complex financial statements and quickly identify relevant information.
  • Experience with financial planning or investment analysis software is preferred; familiarity with Morningstar, Kwanti, Income Lab, Nitrogen, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities simultaneously.
  • Comfortable learning new technology and working across multiple software platforms.
  • Collaborative and dependable—you take ownership of your work and understand that accurate case preparation is critical to the advisor and client experience.
  • Preferred, but not required: Experience working as a paraplanner, financial planning assistant, advisor support specialist, investment operations associate, or similar role within an RIA, broker-dealer, insurance organization, or financial planning firm.
